Shipyard Trust for the Arts

The goals of this planning workshop was to: •Familiarize a broad cross section of interested parties of the opportunity to create an arts center at the Hunters Point Shipyard •Generate discussion about the needs of a diverse community for arts facilities and how a shipyard arts center might meet them. •Begin the process of building a consensus on the ways and means to bring such a center into being.

A study focusing on economic development projects related to the arts and arts-related businesses. Based on the research conducted, STAR would offer the optimal long-term scenarios to the Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard artists and small businesses and the surrounding Bayview Hunters Point Community.

This year 2000 report was prepared by ArtHouse for Shipyard Trust for the Arts (STAR). It is intended to contribute to a dialog about redevelopment of the shipyard among artists, the master developer for the property, San Francisco decision makers and other interested parties throughout the city.
