Summer Art Program
A five-week summer program brought local kids to the Hunters Point Shipyard. STAR partnered with Urban Services YMCA to introduce more than 40 elementary-age kids to a variety of visual art expressions. Working with an experienced Shipyard artist teacher the kids learned hands-on still life drawing, printmaking and book making. The kids completed a group artwork of collaged paintings on a 4’ x 5’ canvas that proudly hangs in Malcolm X Academy. Snacks and drinks were provided.
